Hello all,
My name is Michael Mann and I am going into my fifth year at NC State this fall; I like to say I’m taking my victory lap. I am in the Poole College of Management with a concentration in Finance; I am also getting my minor in Nonprofit Studies. I have been very interested in the nonprofit world since my mother suggested volunteering to me in 8th grade. At first I thought, “oh great now I can’t sit around all summer,” but now nonprofits are something I want to be a part of for the rest of my life. So when I found out that NC State offered a minor in nonprofit studies I jumped on it immediately. The program has given me great insight into a world that fascinates me.
So, why am I here? Well, the nonprofit minor program requires a course that corresponds with a nonprofit internship. After talking with my nonprofit studies advisor she thought that Triangle Family Services would be a great fit for me so I applied for the position. Thankfully, I got the position and am now currently serving as the marketing and development intern under the guidance of CEO Alice Lutz and Agency Coordinator Tiffany Mielnik. I can’t wait to see what I can accomplish here at TFS, especially with our social media that the last intern, Sumih, did an outstanding job upstarting.
